The dream of seeing atleast one Ugandan player featuring in the lucrative CAF Champions League finals this season is no more.

This was after both clubs in Mamelodi Sundowns of custodian Denis Onyango and TP Mazembe of left Joseph Ochaya got eliminated in the semi finals by Wydad Casablanca and defending champions Esperance De Tunis respectively on saturday in which Onyango and Ochaya played full time.

Following a 2-1 and 1-0 first leg away losses in Morocco and Tunisia respectively, Sundowns needed only a goal to nil at home to advance into the finals but could only manage a barren stalemate and so it TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi.

The finals will be played on 24th May with the first leg in Tunisia before the return leg on 31st May in Casablanca, Morocco.

Only two Ugandans in Denis Onyango (Sundowns) and Yunus Sentamu (AS.Vita) have played in the finals of Africa’s biggest club showpiece.

The winner of the CAF Champions league represents Africa in the FIFA World Club Cup.
