Emmanuel “Song” Olinga has agreed to stay at Maroons FC for another two years, Bigwhale sports has learnt.
His contract with the prison side expired in June which automatically made him a free agent.
Since then, a number of UPL sides have been chasing for his signature with Kyetume FC leading the race which he turned down.
“It’s true many top flight teams have approached me with Kyetume FC showing more interest but the current situation in terms of finance and welfare has made me change my mind to stay at Maroons and I want to work hard with my teammates to ensure we come back into the top flight which is very possible.”
He exclusively told Bigwhale sports.
The former Uganda Cubs (U17) assistant skipper was part of Maroons FC unsuccessful 2019/20 UPL campaign that saw them get relegated after the league prematurely ended due to the pandemic Covid-19.
Olinga has previously featured for Gor Mahia Youth side, Water FC and Onduparaka FC at club level, Kololo SS and Dynamic SS at High School level while in national colours he has played for the U17 side and the Hippos (U20).
