URA FC are on the verge of completing the signing of one of SC.Villa’s most outstanding player in the Startimes Uganda Premier League last season as the midfielder has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Tax collectors ahead of his move.
The midfielder in question is David “Colgate” Owori who has been actively linked to a couple of top UPL sides including KCCA FC and Express FC since the end of last season as the active dismantling of Villa’s impressive and exciting squad for the previous season continues.
Ambrose Kirya and Charles Lwanga and Bashir Mutanda have already left for Bul FC, KCCA FC and Mbarara City FC respectively while Yayo Lutimba and Emmanuel Kalyowa are other names linked with moves out of the club.
Owori, a former Proline FC player joined Villa in 2018 from Vipers SC and was very vital in the club’s relegation survival campaign in the 2018/2019 season.
Few months back, the hardworking midfielder reportedly rejected Villa’s offer of a contract extension, adding extra momentum to his impending move away from the club in the ongoing transfer window.
He was a major stay in the Edward Kaziba coached side last season and his impressive displays led to the club’s resurgence following a disappointing 2018/2019 season, something that has lured a number of top flight clubs to scramble for his signature.
The versertile midfielder has been linked to a host of top UPL clubs, including Express FC and KCCA FC, but Sam Ssimbwa’s Tax Collectors have moved quickly to steal a march on their rivals.
If all goes as expected, he will be the third acquisition for the URA FC after the earlier acquisition of Jackson Nunda (midfielder) and Hannington Ssebwalunyo (goal keeper) from KCCA FC and Maroons FC respectively with Steven Mukwala also expected to be unveiled soon.
