Uganda Beach Soccer Association Holds Successful 8th Ordinary General Assembly

The Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) held a Successful 8th Ordinary General Assembly as the marked ten years of existence in Uganda.

The event took place on Saturday 26th September 2020 at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Rubaga.

The Association was launched in 2008 and earned recognition by the Federation of Uganda Football Associations in 2010 after two years in existence.

The Assembly subsequently passed a budget of UGx 871,800,000 USD (238,621) for the year 2020/2021 season .

In his address, the Association chairman Mr. Deo Mutabazi congratulated every one on achievements so far and assured all his optimism for the growth of the game.

“If you look at how we started there is definitely a reason to be proud. There were challenges at the beginning but the success attained over the ten years.”

“From unrecognized tournament we set up competitive League for both men and women, set up a national team and spread the game not only in Uganda but even at our neighbours in the region.”

In Addition, Mutabazi highlighted on the endorsement and affiliation in the newly African Beach Soccer Union.

“I was elected as the first vice President while Mr. Ali Mwebe was appointed as the vice chairperson of technical Development Committee and Mr. Nsereko Kawuma Afriqana was appointed media officer
at the Secretariat.”

Mr. Hamid Juma, a FUFA Executive committee Member who was the guest of honour lauded Uganda Beach Soccer Association.

“As FUFA we laud UBSA for the effort in promoting the game, I personally have been part of the journey and l know the challenge. We are committed to improve the game on and off the pitch.”

Later, Juma was recognized with an award for his outstanding contribution towards Beach Soccer, also Mr. Muhamood “‘Blatter’ Kalema, the FUFA fiance officer was recognized with un award of excellence.
